Default Dishwasher won't run through any cycle
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: Elite 665
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a Kenmore Dishwasher that will not run through a full cycle. The unit starts and the tub fills with water. When it tries to start the wash portion, the unit hums for a couple of seconds and then stops. After about 30 seconds, it tries to continue and then stops again. This just repaeats and nothing gets done. During this time, the cycle clock does not advance as it did during the fill portion. When I press Cancel, the unit will drain but here again this may take several tries as the unit will shut off at times as if there is an overload on the motor.
I thought something was stuck, so I cleaned out the drain area and the impeller, etc. This did not help. Thus, I thought the motor must be shot - i.e. too weak to turn the pump/impellor. I bought a new motor and installed it only to find that nothing had changed. The motor cost about 50% of the cost of the dishwaher. I like the dishwaher but don't know what else to check.

Can you please provide the rest of the model number?

There should be 6 to 8 numbers after the 665.

You may have a bad start relay, it is mounted in back of the kick panel. If ok next check the timer, it may have burnt contacts.

You will need a meter to check this out. While the dishwasher is trying to start, check voltage at different places like the door latch switches the power connection and the electronic module motor wires. Also check around, you may have a burnt wire somewhere.
Also check the motor, it may be jammed by something.

I don't think it is a door latch as the unit does run until it gets to specific parts of the cycle - i.e the start of the wash where the motor is required.
I've already checked for any jams near the motor and everything seems fine. i can turn the impellor, etc. by hand with little effort.
As mentioned in my first thread, I also tried a brand new motor and that didn't help.
