Default Dishwasher won't fill
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: fdb635rfr6
Age: 1 - 4 years

My dishwasher is not filling with water.

I checked the water inlet valve with my multimeter set to Ohms, it was showing infinity, so I replaced it. The new part also showed infinity when I checked it in the same method. I increased the scale to KOhms to get a reading. Both are showing around 1.14 kOhms. Does this indicate that the new part is faulty?

I also checked the float switch, it appears to be working correctly. I get a closed reading when the float is all the way down and an open reading when the float is raised.

I have checked the water supply and it is ok. I have verified that the tube from the valve to the dishwasher is clear.

I hooked the multimeter to the water inlet connector to get a voltage reading. When the dishwasher is powered on but not running I get an ambient voltage of 1.5 volts. When I turn the knob to the position where the tub should begin to fill I get a voltage reading of 2.5 volts. This would seem to be a big enough voltage increase to caus ethe solenoid to activate and allow the water to flow but I can't verify this.

Thanks
coop

You have bad timer contacts. You could spray timer with a non-residue cleaning spray and rotate timer a few times to clear contacts, worth a try, usually works

It does this on all the fill cycles though. I would think that what you are describing would occur only on a specific cycle, also I would not be seeing a voltage increase during the fill portion. Is a 1v increase enough to activate the solenoid?

thanks
jeff

the water solenoids require 120v in order to operate
