Dishwasher won't drain and sprays old water. Brand: General Electric Model Number: GSD2220Z02BB Age: 5 - 10 years I looking for advice on my dishwasher problem. Last night I ran it and when I opened it bottom had about a gallon of dirty water in it. Dishes had residue from the detergent like it washed but didn't rinse them. I ran it again and same result. Same amount of water and I opened it mid-way and sprayer appeared to be working. No clogs in the drain hose or sink. I removed most of the water and re-ran empty. Looks like the same amt of water is in the bottom and it seems to be dirty. (No dishes or added soap) It's like it's the same water that's always been there. I'm not sure if the heating element is now not working as when the cycle completes and you put on dry cycle when you opened the door the dishwasher would be bone dry and the you could tell the element had really heated up. Now there is the puddle and the element doesn't seem to have even come on. There isn't any lights on this unit but when you start it the sound and the way the bottom moves thru the cycle appear to be normal and I did check the breaker and it seems normal too. Does the heating element not come on if there is water in the bottom? It seems like if it were a blockage then water would get higher everytime you run it, but it doesn't and seems like it's that same little bit of dirty water that was in the bottom just being re-ran thru the cycle. I can't tell the difference of how it's suppose to sound if it's fresh rinse water being spayed and obviously when I open the door the spayer is sticking out like it was spraying (I put a glass on top and it was wet w/ dirty water) so I'm kind of confused. I don't want to pay a repair man $100+ to come out and hit a button. If the motor is gone it would still drain and the heating element would come on wouldn't it???? Any help would be very much appriciated. |
