Default Dishwasher won't drain fully
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSD4030Z07WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Recently my dishwasher will not drain fully. I have not installed a new garbage disposal. Dishwasher drains into other side of sink. I took the drain pipe off of the outlet and ran a wash cycle and the pump will drain water into a bucket. I thought maybe the drain line out of the sink was clogged so I ran a snake down and cleaned that out. But there is still water up to the door in the bottom of the tub. I haven't checked to see if the pump impeller is bad but it is pumping water out, just not all. Any ideas????

Check the sump to see if something is blocking the drain.

Check the drain impeller to see that it is not damaged.

Here is a link to your dishwasher model GSD4030Z07WW.

I assume you mean the sump under the sink? If so, it's clear.

Can the impeller only be reached from under the dishwasher and not through the tub?

Further info: If I shut off the water supply to the dishwasher and run the rinse and hold cycle, it will drain some of the water out of the tub. 2 or 3 cycles will get most of the water out. Again, I have physically seen water draining into the sink sump. Could there be a float sensor or check valve somewhere that's not working properly?
