Default Dishwasher won't drain
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: fdr251rjs0
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi,
My dishwasher won't drain. It sounds like it is going thru the cycles, but the water won't drain out. We checked the drains and there is no blockage. I was told to replace the motor as this model has the drain pump attached, and it still won't drain. Could it be the timer? Please advise.

Does the motor run when it is in the drain cycle?

The motor should reverse to drain.

Here is a link to your dishwasher model fdr251rjs0.

I replaced the motor, and the dishwasher was still not draining. I replaced the timer today, and I still have the same problem. The water fills, it goes to the next cycle, where the water is spraying from the arm on the bottom of the dishwasher, then when it comes time for it to drain, I hear the timer hum. It doesn't engage the pump to empty the water. Any suggestions, as I am running out of options here.

Pull drain hose and put it into a bucket. Run dishwasher and check for debree in drain water.
If ok, you may have a bad check valve on the output of the pump.

We already tried to drain the hose, and there is no blockage there. There is a brand new motor in the dishwasher, and it doesn't seem to be engaging to a drain cycle. Please advise.

You probably have a jammed check ball inside pump housing, remove the torq screws and check.

Could a jammed check ball be in both the new and old pump? I have my doubts about that. How about a bad impeller?

The check ball is under the housing that supports the spray arm.

I can't hear the motor working when it should be draining. If it isn't reverersing to drain. Could it be a problem with not getting enough power, and if so, how do we check that?

You are blinding us all with a lack of meter data, particularly the motor current.
