Question Dishwasher will not start with the door latch completely closed.
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSD3400G00WW
Age: 1 - 4 years

My Dishwasher will not start with the door latch completely latched. The cycle light will light up about halfway latched, and will start the cycle, but once the latch is completely latched the Dishwasher will stop.

I removed the seven screws holding the inner door apart and checked the latch and it seems to be working properly. I was wondering if the switch that the latch switches on may be bad or should be replaced.
Any suggestions to what I can do to repair this before calling a repairman out???

Thanks

Default

Sounds like the switch is shot
Looks like the switch is a plunger type
Does the door lock push the plunger down evenly or does it slip off part way through latching due to a bent lever
If you have an ohm meter manually push the plunger down while measuring continuity. Once the switch closes does it stay closed the rest of the way.
