Default Dishwasher will not fill
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: mdb9150aww
Age: 5 - 10 years

Our dishwasher will not fill with water. I think it ran through a cycle the other day w/o water. After talking with the local parts store, they suggested I replace the fill valve. I changed it today...same problem. Now I've noticed it will not operate in any of the wash cycles. The timer runs...but nothing happens. It will "run" in the rinse and drain modes...but no water. I have since found an way to ohm the fill valve...mine was good. I've checked the float valve and it moves fines. Is there a way to check the switch with a meter? I'm thinking the PCB is bad...again. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Earl

Here is a parts breakdown with a schematic
Maytag MDB9150AWW

Yes it is easy to check you float switch
Remove one wire from the switch and measure it for resistance
Open (infinite ohms) when float is up
Closed (0 ohms) when float is in its normal position (down)

Angry

okay, ohms check on the float switch checked good. I went and bought a new PCB since that's the next logical thing. Well, still won't work...tries to run but no water even just selecting rinse. As luck would have it, the parts store doesn't take back electric parts. So any ideas...other than making a compost bin out of it?

Don't put it in the bin yet

Does the timer run OK?
Most likely is a boken wire or defective connection
Put the meter on 200 volts
Jiggery pokery the door switch so the unit thinks it is closed
Measure white to black on the board, just to make sure we have 120 Volts on the board
Start a cycle at a fill or rinse
Measure pin 5 to Black wire on the board
If you get 120 volts
You probably have a wire/connection problem in the fill valve circuit
Then you just have to measure each wire for continuity

If you do not get 120 or so
Unplug the connector with pin 5 on it and try again

Might be an idea to tape a towel or a garbage bag over the front of the washer while doing this. Just in case the washer decides to spit at you. Just make sure you are not touching the heater.

Default Found it!

Thanks a lot for the schematic, I was able to trace the circuit and found two broken wires at the bottom of the door. I also found a third one almost cut in two. Now just have to find a new harness...

Thanks again, wish i would have shot wires before buying a new water valve and control board. But since it's a Maytag, I'll probably need them!
