Default Dishwasher - water does not start running
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: DU1020XTLQ0
Age: 1 - 4 years

Not sure if you understood my question. When I turn on the dishwasher, it will go thru all the ycles as though there was water in the machine. When turning on dishwasher, water does not start flowing unless I turn the shut-off valve on and off under the sink or turn the farcett on and off above. And each time the rinse starts, I have to repeat the process.
I guess the disturbance in water pressure may trigger it to start.

Sounds like your water inlet valve is not operating correctly
For some reason it is sticking and the water pressure is holding it closed
I would replace it
You may want to check the power to it.
It should be 115 volts or better.

Thanks Denman. I suspected the same thing, but was not sure.
