Default Dishwasher stops between rinse and dry cycle
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KUDS24SEWH5
Age: 5 - 10 years

The diswasher stops with the NORMAL WASH light blinking and the Light between Rinse and Dry blinking. I believe it was drying because after letting it sit for 20 minutes there was lots of heat coming out of the door vent. I pressed start but that didn't help. I then opened the door and closed it again and the two lights were still blinking. I tried the START button again but it had no effect. I hit CANCEL which turned it off. I believe the dishes were washed and rinsed and in the process of drying. This is the second time in succession that it hung up with the same lights so it probably needs something fixed but I don't know what. This has happened in the past and the Start button seemed to get it running to a sucessful conclusion.

It is possible the control is starting to fail check in your owners manual.

Sometimes the manual will give you an idea of the likely cause.

I checked the owners guide and the possible causes that are listed don't seem too plausable. Things like a fuse or circuit breaker tripped, the water is turned on, etc. don't seem to hold much water. A possible cause is also the motor may have overloaded but I'm beyond the Wash & Rinse cycles where the motor no longer plays a role.
