Default Dishwasher not working
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: DU850SWP
Age: 1 - 4 years

I just purchased this 2 year old dishwasher from a friend of mine and hired a "jack of all trades" to install it. It took him a while since the former one I had in there was installed in 1971. Anyway, after all was installed and everything plugged up, the dishwasher is completely dead. It won't power up at all. We made sure everything was connected properly and that the door was shut properly so that it could turn on, but nothing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Here is a link to parts for your unit
DU850SWP Parts List

Here is a link to a service manual which includes a DU850DWG, should be close to yours. You will have to check it.

Before trying this unit make sure you add a couple quarts of water to it
Dishwashers do not like to start dry

The most common cause of no apparent power is the door switch
Looks like you have 2 of them both of them must be closed to get power
Open the door up and check them
Just because the actuator is OK does not mean the contacts in the switch are actually closing
Sometimes you can get it to work by wiggling the door handle, also make sure the door latches properly
