Default Dishwasher not draining water stays in the unit
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSD2000Z04WH
Age: 5 - 10 years

My dishwasher not draining the water. It runs and sprays water but just wont drain. I check it when it running ang it looks like the solenoid engages when it runs. Any ideas on this issue? thanks.

Check to make sure that the linkage is hooked to the drain solenoid and the gate is opening.

how to tel if its opening? i check it the solenoid turns hot is that means its bad and need replacement?

also it sounds like it not going to the drain cycle even if the solenoid engages. if the solenoid is down does that means its open or close? thanks.

If the motor is running and the solenoid is energized, which would make it warm to touch, the gate must not be opening.

You will have to look in the drain port of the pump inside the dishwasher if you can't hear the water draining.

Here is the pump assembly.

do i need a new pump assembly? or do i need to disassemble the pump and look in there? i'm new to this thing. Please advise. thanks

You can also pull the drain tube at the disposer or air break. If the flow is good you may have a restricted air break or disposer.If not open the pump and clean it out.
