Question Dishwasher not draining properly
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSD4030Z07WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi,

I've read through the posts in this forum, and I still need help.

My diswasher doesn't fully drain, and leaves approx 3 inches of water on the bottom. I've followed the steps on this website

I'm not well versed on the terminology of the various parts, so please phrase your answers for a 10 year old.

If I need to pull the d/w out of the cabint, please provide directions on how to do that as well.

I appreciate any guidance.

Take the bottom panel off the dishwasher and watch the drain solenoid when it goes into the drain cycle.

Here is a link to your dishwasher model GSD4030Z07WW.

The drain solenoid is number 493 on the breakdown and this is what it looks like.

Had this a while back--was ready to call repair man--but gave it a try-- it appears there was a grease buildup in the drain--first I removed all the old standing water--then used hot water and a little dawn dish soap and ran it through the drain cycle--tried several times -- important to keep water hot--it gradually started draining--when it finally drained sufficiently, I ran it through with Cascade. Ran fine--also make sure to run JetDry Dishwasher CLeaner through periodically--a hardwater deposit buildup can also cause problems
