Default Dishwasher not cleaning dishes
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 339?
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hello,
I just found this website- I don't have my kenmore model and serial no.
I know its about 3 to 4 years old and numbers start with 3.

My dishwasher is not cleaning the dishes and the soap my wife uses gets hard and cakes up.

First mistake I made- I thought I would try to take out the part that telescopes up and I broke two little plastic tabs that I think lock it in.
I have run it after I did that and seems to be working same -
which I was worried I may have broken something else or caused a new problem.

any ideas why the dishwasher is not cleaning the dishes. I have removed the lower panels and I see the motor and I thing a small hose coming in- Is that where I should be looking?
someone told my wife to run dishwasher with a little vinegar to clean out - it did not help.

thank you

Will need a Model Number
Here is help in finding it
Appliance Model Number Locator - Find the Right Part for Your Appliance with PartSelect

Poor washing can be cause by a number of things.
The most common is a dirty filter somewhere in the machine
Also a low water level will cause this. You should be able to hear this if you know what it used to sound like. Low water sounds like it is cavitating.
Some washers have a small flapper valve in the wash tower. It lets water into the pump on drain. They rot out over time, then on wash a lot of water goes out the hole instead of up and out the wash arms
Could be a number of other things that are machine dependant

Hey Joe, the first thing you need to check is how much water is coming into the dishwasher. When you fill up the dishwasher with water, it should come up to the bottom of the element. When you said, that the soap cakes up in the dispenser, and does not come out, could be 2 things. 1- being not enough water, and the other could be, that the rubber seal, that is around the dispenser assembly could be worn, and is letting water in, before it is time to open the dispenser door, therefore it gums up. If you need any further instruction, you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
