The inspector's estimate was probably assuming that you wouldn't do the work yourself. Having a plumber tie into a water line and drain could very likely cost that much, if the connections aren't already there.
In addition - without water or drain lines connected, it's impossible to test the dishwasher. If you're planning to make an offer, I'd recommend that you add a clause that the current owner warrants the dishwasher to be in working condition, and will pay for repair/replacement if this isn't found to be the case after water and drain are connected. |
