Default Dishwasher light flashes 4 times
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: ADP5540
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a problem with my Whirlpool ADP5540 dishwasher, it stopped and won't drain without any warning.

The light on the front blinks / flashes 4 times then stops for a second then blinks / flashes 4 times, this keeps on while the power is on.

I believe the flashing light is trying to tell me something however, I do not have an error code manual.

I'm a factory engineer so guess I should have a crack at this my self, any help, info or guidance as to what or where I should be starting my search for the problem would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Steve

You may have a door latch problem.

It could be a board failure.

There should be a technician sheet in the bottom panel or stuck to the bottom of the tub.

Can you please check your model number as I can not locate it in our database?

The model number should be on a tag on the tub where the door closes.

Thanks for the assistance.

On the side of the door there is a sticker, [ MOD 6 ADP 5540 WH ] I believe this to be the only number resembling what I would expect to be the model number.

I tipped the dishwasher on it's side and removed the bottom tray, there is a medium size circuit board inside a plastic housing clipped onto the bottom tray.

There is no info sheets anywhere underneath.

I believe the machine to be a little over 2 years old.

Thanks.

Steve

Check in the sump to see if there is something jamming the motor impeller.
