Cool Dishwasher Electrical Burning Smell
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSD3200J
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hey Folks,
My dishwasher started getting a hot electrical smell in it all of a sudden.
I'm pretty sure it's coming from the door area, so I shut it right down and emailed GE.
They said I probably have a piece of plastic on the element...I don't.
It's definately an electrical smell.
Do you think it's just a switch like some of the other posts mention?
Thanks!

Go on in to google look up and type in GE dishwasher recall.

Your dishwasher may be under this recall.

Disconnect the power to the dishwasher and do not use until you have it checked out.

Have your model and serial number available.

Thanks Shiela!
I already did that.
They told me my model isn't under the recall.
I took it apart and narowed it down to the electrical smell is filtering up from the bottom of the unit, so anyone have any suggestions to what's burning up under there?
Motor, switch?
Thanks!

Take the bottom panel off the dishwasher and start it watch and see if you can tell what is getting hot.

Here is a link to your dishwasher model GSD3200J.
