Default Dishwasher draining
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: HDA2000Z07WH
Age: 1 - 4 years

It is a used D/W. Been sitting in box for about 1 1/2 yrs. I hooked it up last weekend . Everything appears fine EXCEPT the water drains out once the D/W is turned on (I added water to check it). The spray arm has water dribbling out of the holes & it seems to try to move, but doesn't. The tower will raise about an inch at the beginning (before the water completely drains). I can hear it draining in the sink drain when the spray arm SHOULD be working. The correct amount of water is being dispense into the unit. I thought the drain valve was stuck open, but it retains the water I put in until I turn it on. Any suggestions? Thanks

Is your drain hose high enough?

It must be at least to the top of the dishwasher to work properly.

Check with your installation instructions for the recommended height for your make.

My problem was a spring missing from the valve gate arm.
