Default Dishwasher Door latch in "closed" position with door open
Brand: Jenn-Air
Model Number: jdb1100aws
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hi my dishwasher has been working fine, until I interrupted the cycle to get an item out and it took quite a while to retrieve. In any case upon attempting to shut the door I noticed that the latch appears to be in the latched mode and now I cant close the door. I then set it to drain the water out and cancel the run and the latch remains shut. I attempted to CAREFULLY open it by prying and used a pair of needle nose pliers to open it and it would'nt budge (and I didn't want to risk damaging it). So I also attempted to reset the brain by unplugging it, to no avail. I hope there is an easy solution, none was offered by the manual

Thanks,

Paul

You need a new latch assembly. Maytag, who is the one that made that Jenn-aire you have, has had a problem with that latch. It is real easy to replace, and it comes with the switches, and I don't know for sure buy this part # I am going to give you, but it comes with the handle. That is the one you want, because putting the handle on the new one is a pain. Here is the part # 99003347. If you need me to walk you through the repair, you can reach me at my website at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Default Model confusion

The model I have has an internal latching mechanism and is not actuated using a the handle.
