I just tried to close the door on my dishwasher, and it won't close.. The latch on the outside of the door is real loose, like it might be broken..... It is like a spring is missing or something...... Where do I purchase a new latch, and what is the item I need to buy. Also, instructions on installation would be helpful. Thanks

You can order this at partselect. You will need to order the handle and latch. There is only one way the two go together, takes a lot of force but they just snap together.

I just did the same thing to mine and it works fine now. The pins on the handle are broke and a new handle is in order. I got by with the same latch till the second time it broke and this time had to repace the latch too. The original latch has a spring steel spring that gets bent and will not let the nylon lock travel. Relace the latch and handle and you should be good to go. A simple fix

Our dishwasher door latch is broken and we can't get the door open! and all our dishes are in it? Any suggestions on how to get the door open? The way it's installed we can't pull the dishwasher out.

I think I had to force the door open. It wont do any good to pull the dish washer as the latch is completely enclosed.. I ended up putting on new handle and then the door would not close , but the washer would run. I ended up buying a new latch assembly and it has worked fine ever since. The after market assembly is better than the original...............Bill

Since latches vary a great deal make sure you add your make and appoximate age.

Hopefully you also have the Model Number but you may not be able to supply it because it is usually on a tag in the dishwasher.

Someone may know a trick to open it up
