Default Dishwasher doesn't drain properly
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSD4030Z00WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Guessing at the age of the unit, bought the house just over 3 years ago and it was there.

Water is standing in the tub after the cycle. Don't know if it started gradually and got worse, but standing water is all the way up just below the heating element. I popped the cap off the air gap and water is definitely pumping out, (got water all over the counter) but I don't know how fast it should be coming out.

Set it on rinse/hold and cancelled the cycle, and the standing water level got lower. After 2 more start/cancels it eventually drained the tub. Next regular cycle, tub has standing water again.

I'm thinking pump impeller kit, but any advice would be appreciated.

Also... There's a hard plastic gasket, or gasket surface in the bottom of the tub under the door that's broken down over the last year piece-by-piece. We've found pieces of it several times. The machine doesn't leak, and the door operates fine, so I haven't addressed it. I don't see it in any of the parts diagrams either.

All things considered, should I just replace the whole unit?

Check to see that the drain gate is opening all the way.

Have you broken any glass?

This is usually what takes the impeller out.

If you are handy then parts replacement is the way to go.

If not then you would have to look at the cost to repair or replace.

Here is a link to your dishwasher model GSD4030Z00WW.
