Default Dishwasher does not drain
Brand: Magic Chef
Model Number: DU5JV
Age: More than 10 years

The DU5JV does not fully drain and is constantly above the grill on the filter housing, whereas months ago, water was never see there.

I cleaned the filter (not much gunk in it). When I disconnected the drain hose from the airgap, a steady flow of water did drain and the level went below the grill. I also inspected the hose between the airgap and the garbage disposal. It appeared clear, except for some sediment build up.

As a test, I ran the machine through the rinse & hold cycle. Water was flowing through the drain hose. Upon inspection, water still remained in the machine, about 3/4 inch below the heating element.

If possible I would drain the unit into a pail, does it drain properly now.
Put a rag or saran wrap over most of the pail so it does not splash all over
I always suspect the drain when dealing with a garbage disposal
You can always open the door a bit to stop the draining and allow emptying the pail
Also the air gap can impede draining if not operating correctly

Also check your drain solenoid/flapper to ensure it is operating correctly and water is not bypassing it
