Default Dishwasher - Control Panel Repair
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MDB7130AWS
Age: 5 - 10 years

Dishwasher would occasionally stop in the middle of a cycle and just make a humming sound. Repairman came out and said the control panel was bad so I ordered a new one. Tried to install the replacement part and everything is completely dead. Tried putting the old part back in and that doesn't work either. Is there a trick to replacing this? I thought it would be plug and play but no such luck here. Please help.

Haven't gotten any repair responses so I started pushing the control panel buttons and was able to get the dishwasher to turn on (with the new control panel) but only "Heavy Wash and Heated Dry". In order to get it to turn on, I performed the PCB test someone had indicated on a previous repair thread: (2,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,4 in 10 seconds). This is the only setting that seems to be working, however the setting doesn't seem to properly. It doesn't always draw water. This disherwasher is only 5 years old and just out of warranty... Please help!

Default Maytag Dishwasher- Control Panel Repair

Hello,
I am having the same problem. I just installed a new panel, but it still does not work properly. Only some of the lights work. I believe it has something to with the integrity of the connection between the flat strip conductor (coming out of the panel) and it's connection to the circuit board receptacle. This does not seem to be a very positive connection. Maybe the end of the strip needs to be bent into a loop before installing into the connector.
I will be calling my local maytag repair shop tomorrow (Thurs. 2/3/08).
I will let you know what I find out.

Default Maytag Dishwasher- Control Panel replacement

Hello, Ok I have found the answer to my problem and hopefully to yours also. There is a particular procedure to plugging the conductor strip (coming from the panel) into the circuit board. The correct method is to place the plastic retainer clip on the circuit board connector first (if you have removed it). Pull the retainer out slightly and insert the flat conductor strip into it.
Then push the retainer in to lock the conductor strip in place.

PS. The mistake that I made was to remove the plastic retainer clip and place it on the conductor. Then I pushed the conductor strip into the connector and slid the retainer down the conductor strip and onto the connector. THIS DOES NOT GIVE A TIGHT CONNECTION and if the machine works at all it is only because of luck.
