Here is a link to your unit if you need parts
Kenmore Parts for Models 363.1435597

Here is a link to a dishwasher. It has parts breakdown diagrams and should be fairly close to yours. may help with finding where things are
GE HDA2000G02BB Parts List

Check to make sure your drain is clear of obstructions
Usually see blockage problems with units hooked into a disposal unit.

Remove the sump cover and clean it out
Take note of how the inside grate is installed. If you install it incorrectly, you will eat it up with the chopper

Remove your spray arm and check down in the pump. Note the spray arm is reverse thread. Make sure the little flapper valve is OK.

Remove the kick plate. Check that the wash/drain solenoid is operating correctly

If you also have a drain input at the very back of the unit, there is a valve under the cover that can cause problems. Could not see it on the parts list so odds are your dishwasher does not have it.

Is your dishwasher the same as the GE HDA2000?
Look at the picture Item 501 comes off as an assembly.
Or is yours different??
I need to know so that we are talking about the same thing

Also did you clean the sump?

On some spray towers the sower sections unscrew from the arm
Then there is a screw in the center hole of the arm which must be removed

Bob, look under your sink, where the hose from the dishwasher drains to. If it is your garbage disposal, the way it should be is, when the hose comes out of the disposal it should go up for no less than 12 inches. If the drain hose does not go up before it goes down to your dishwasher, the water from the sink will drain into the dishwasher. Which would explain the residue on your dishes, and I would imagine the water that is left in the dishwasher is not clean water. Tie up the drain, and I believe this will cure your problems. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

OK, I think I figured it out
Part 502 is in the Motor Pump Mechanism of GE HDA2000G02BB Parts List

Your unit must be one of the early units, it looks like they have changed the washer arm assembly.

Can you see the screen behind the chopper in the sump?
Is it clean?
You may have to use a mirror to see it properly.

So far everything looks normal.

Do you drain into a garbage disposal or directly into the sink drain?

Here is a link with more info
GE dishwashers, not filling with water, not draining, test procedures, pump assembly, soap dispensor
