Cool Dishwasher
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: mdr251RHR0
Age: 5 - 10 years

My diswasher was making a noise and I thought something might be stuck in the pump. I started probing and without realizing it, I got beyond my ability to reassemble the peices. I only removed the spray arm and difuser but that left the spacer, metal pump plate and rubber gasket to move freely and separately. Can someone tell me how to line up those parts in relation to the defuser and screw? This little old lady would sure appreciate the help. Thanks.

Hi there, I'm not sure if this applies to your make of dishwasher but there should be a locking ring underneath the unit that locks the pump housing down onto the gasket. You can try to find it underneath from the front but you also might have to pull the unit out and tip it over on its front to get at the bottom. It's not very heavy but you need to protect the front (I used telephone books). Also, you will likely need to turn off the circuit breaker, water, and disconnect the water line and possibly the drain hose.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks, Piperdown, but it does not sound like my configuration is stablized up from the bottom....perhaps you would look at the following manufacturer's drawing of the parts which shows relative positions but not exact shape of the pieces. Please see below

Iseabury, that certainly is a different set up than mine.

It's tough to tell from the diagram but it looks like the diffuser and pump plate should be parallel to each other (i.e. long edges should be aligned). However, I can't tell from the diagram how the spacer fits. I would suspect that it may fit any of the four ways so that it fits inside the plate strainer. Unfortunately that's the best I can do from that diagram. Again good luck.
