Cool Dishwaher solenoid or gate arm stuck ???
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSD2020
Age: 5 - 10 years

Dishwasher fills, but when motor starts to wash, it pumps out the water. It's not a siphoning problem, as the drain hose is looped up high enough. If you add water. it drains. as soon as the arm starts to spin it drains. I have check the drain solenoid by unplugging the solenoid and it still kicks in and drains.
Could this drain solenoid be stuck open. How could I check this without removing the motor housing. When I put a voltage meter in the ohms it test to O.
How do you remove the washer spray arm to look down there to see the gate arm or if something is keeping it open,. Also when it kicks open it leaks water for just a while its open. any help would be appreciated

Here is the parts link to your unit
GSD2020 Parts List

Check that the solenoid still has the spring on it, returns it to home position (wash)

You can check it by manually pushing the solenoid piston down
It should pop up quickly once released
Sounds like it is not doing this and the water pressure is flipping the flapper to the drain position.

Looks like a flapper shaft seal is available. Item 417 in the pump section.

Click on any item description (orange type) and you will get a better view and sometimes help from others who have replaced this part.
