Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSD500X-72AW
Age: 5 - 10 years

There is water in the dish washer that will not drain out. How can I remedy this problem?

Check and see if the drain solenoid is working.

Remove the bottom panel and watch and see if the solenoid engages.

The solenoid is number 493 on the pump and motor breakdown.

you will hear a loud click sound if solenoid is working. if you get down there and the solenoid is melted and stuck in the up position, then you not only need to replace the solenoid, but the timer as well. what happens is the timer goes bad and holds the solenoid open for too long which leads to the solenoid over-heating and melting. if you just replace the solenoid you will have the same problem adn have to do it all over again. or could be a clogged drain, or even seen a tooth pick in the pump that caused the flapper inside not to seal completely into the drain position. good luck, hope my 2 cents helps.
