Unhappy Dirty dishes
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110733500
Age: More than 10 years

Dishes are not coming out clean. Glasses on the top rack have particles stuck to them inside and out. If small plates or bowls are put in the top rack they very seldom come out clean.
Plates on the bottom rack usually half of them have food stuck on them. Utensils are clean.

I have checked both spray arms the bottom metal one and top plastic one don't appear to have any cracks and are not plugged. I have taken the bottom spray arm off and the plastic cover with 8 screws off and found no debris. I do not have a manual so not sure how to take off any other parts.

Any help would be appreciated.

Let the dishwasher fill with water then open the door and point both spray arms at the door.

Close the door and let the dishwasher run for a minute then open the door and see if the arms have moved.

Make sure the tower is in the middle of the rack.

The tower is lined up correctly and both spray arms are working. Ran the dishwasher through an entire cycle and the water is everywhere. After reading a few other posts I am concerned about the water level. The water level is approx. 1" below the heater and just covering the opening to the pump.
Does this sound low? If so how do you adjust this?

Two things to check; check for water temps over 150 degrees, next make sure you are using a powder dishwasher detergent.

Your water level does sound like it is low.

The dishwasher is time filled by the timer it is not adjustable.

Low water pressure will cause this.

Make sure that other appliances that use water are not in use at the sometime.

To answer Appguy we have always used powder detergent. I checked the water temp at the kitchen faucet and it is 115°F. We had our water heater replaced awhile ago and they installed a anti-scald valve, which they said is now code, so the max temp is 120°F. I can't get the water any hotter than it is.

99% of the time the dishwasher runs when we go to bed so no other water is running. Is there a way to check the timer or should I try and replace it? Where would it be located?

Time a few water fills, should be more than 70 seconds, if not you may have a bad timer. Also check the water solenoid and clean the screen or just replace it.
When it is washing, dump more water in and check to see if the washer washes stuff better.

Is the water solenoid the same as the water inlet valve?
Where is there a screen? I don't have a manual.

The water valve and inlet valve are the same thing.

You will have to remove the water line to get to the screen.

Timer was fine. Took apart the water inlet valve and the screen was plugged. Installed a new valve and the water level was double from before. Ran a load of dishes and all seems good now.
Thanks for the help.
