Default Cycle problem/water not flowing
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: DU912PFGQ1
Age: 5 - 10 years

This unit seems to be having a problem with the timer. If it is set to "wash" the dishwasher starts off like it is in a drain cycle. It has sometimes done this in the past, but after a minute or so, water starts to come into the DW and the wash cycle begins. Many times, if I simply turn the on/of dial all the way around to "wash" again, the DW starts correctly in the "allow water to flow" stage and starts washing correctly.

The time delay works, but once it gets to the start time, the cycle starts - but begins in, what appears to be the drain cycle, as described above.

Thanks for any ideas.

I've done a little further trouble shooting on this. I manually filled the DW and the cycle that the motor is running in is the wash cycle - my guess is with or without water. The wash cycle completes and the DW drains, but the motor never stops. I thought the fill switch may be the problem, but it shows off/on with a continuity tester.

Any other ideas? The timer is $105 for this unit, so I want to have a little better handle on the problem before I order that replacement unit.
