Lock On Blinking Light Had the same problem, got it to work one time after turning the circuit breaker off for an extended period and then simultaneously resetting the C/B and having wife manipulate the controls. Finally gave up and called Sears repair. The model dishwasher had a recall due to malfunction of the control panel (that most likely is what needs to be replaced; however, there is a second electronic module in the machine.
The machine was out of warranty by over a year or more...it was in the house when we brought it. When I called Sears, they offered me a 1-year maintenance warranty for a little over $200. The Sears maintenance man would come to the house, isolate the repair and replace the part, if needed, for the price. I had already looked on the internet for a replacement control panel and it was going to cost more than that alone. I accepted and signed up. The Sears repair guy came and said it most likely was the control panel, but it could be the other electronic module, and there was no way to field test which one was faulty, so he would have to replace both! Unfortunately, he stocked neither part on the truck so he had to order them, they arrived at the house about 3-days later and he returned a week after the initial visit and installed both parts...all new electronics in the machines and it has been working like a champ since repair (3 months) and if I have a problem during the next 9 months I call and they repair it. Overall, it was the least expensive way to go, for me, and I abhor those maintenance warranty extension contract. I feel if they make it right, it should last without paying for a contract...but sometimes you just bite the bullets. Apparently there was a series of dishwasher control panels that were faulty in that the little cushion behind the control button screws-up and will not make the proper contact. That is why an "occasional" random attempt to reset and allow a cycle to start was successful.
Wish you well. |
