pretty straight forward. disconnect power, take outer door panel off by pulling screws from inside of door. then remove lower kick panels. this will give you the most room to work with. you can reach to the back of the machine if you have skinny arms. unplug wires from heater, then with a cresent wrench loosen the long plastic nuts that are holding the element in place. lift out from inside of tub, slide new one in, it comes with new gaskets installed. tighten back up and reinstall wires. but before you do all of this check heater by pressing in this order. (High Temp)-(heated dry)-(high temp)-(heated dry) buttons, this will put machine into service mode. listen for click, pause, click, then water will start to flow into machine, open door and touch heater. did it get warm? if it did heater is fine. could be a temp sensor, or even computer control. what happened is the machine did not notice a drastic enough temp change when washing so it assumes that the heater is not working. there is another longer test cycle that takes about 15 min that actually tests the machine's sensors and stuff. (heated dry)-(normal wash)-(heated dry)-(normal Wash). let it run the full cycle, if the light is still blinking after this then there definately is a problem. also the door switch controls the neutral side of the heater circuit if the switch goes bad the heater gets no neutral this would be white with purple stripe wire. ohms reading on good heater is usually between 10-35ohms. really hard to explain, but pretty easy to diagnose if actually touching the machine. anyway hope this helps. good luck |
