Default Can you adjust the fill timer and test heating element?
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KUDP01ILWH2
Age: 1 - 4 years

I don't understand why they use a timer to control the water inlet valve.. seems way better to use the float switch to avoid problems with variable water pressure... but anyways - is there a way to adjust the timer? My dishwasher is only filling with about half of the 1.8 gallons of water it should be.

Cheers
Geoff

PS - Also, the cycles are very long now and dishes don't dry and I wonder if because the dishwasher was not filling with enough water that the heating element burned out trying to heat the water that wasn't high enough to be close to the element. Is there a way to check the element with the dishwasher in place?

There is no way to adjust the timer to extend the fill time.

You should check the pressure at your water source. The pressure must be at least 40 psi for the dishwasher to fill to the properer level in the allotted time.

The float switch is there for people who are on a town or city water supply that is over 40 psi so the dishwasher will not over fill.

If your water is not hot enough (between 135 and 145 degree Fahrenheit) the dishwasher will try to heat the water.

If my water pressure is not high enough, what options are there?

Is there a way to check my heating element to see if it is still functioning?

Thanks,
Geoff

I checked my heater and it reads 1.2 when the ohm scale is set to 200m, so I think it's 1,200,000 ohms = buster heater?
