Default Can hear electrical sizzling in switch panel
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: mdb9150awb
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello,

The dishwasher doesn't want to drain. You can hear it try to start draining but doesn't. Sometimes if we let it sit for a day or two it will then drain after a full wash.

I can hear electrical sizzling in the switch panel when we open and close door or even select cycle?

Has the seal been broken and moisture has gotten into the circuitry? Do I just need to open up door to gain entry to circuitry and look for moisture deposits and clean up contacts?

thank you, happy holidays,

ra

You may want to call Maytag to see if this washer is included in a recall they have hade re: rinse aid shorting out wiring

I open up the door to gain access to circuitboard. Found a blue component that had is solder deteriorated and consequently caused a disconnect. I soldered and added some electrical duct tape to hold it down to the board. Powered up washer and it seems to work fine now!!

take it easy.....healthy new year to everyone

check the wiring diagram and see what exactly this "blue piece" is your talking about. It may be a failsafe for something else that should be looked at.

still having electrical issues......

Should I pull out circuit board and test each component for failures (i.e multimetr) or just get new circuit board? Or is another board or mechanical component causing the power surges to the board that is showing the visible failures?
