Default Buz noise and spray but my GE isn't working
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: gsd2230z02ww
Age: 5 - 10 years

Our 9 yr GE diswasher isn't working. When I turn it on all I get is a semi loud buz (sort of like the sound of faulty electrical motor). If I turn the cycle knob a little it starts the water cycle (the tub is now half full), but then it stops and I get the buz (hum, whatever). The water is cycling around the tub or anything -- just a bit of spraying sound. I've tried turning the knob more through the cycle and just get buz followed with a bit of water spraying inside the washer. The drain filter in the tub seems clean... that's about all I know to check for. The dishwasher isn't a very expensive one and kind of loud anyway, but if parts can fix it I wouldn't mind trying... unless its day has come of course.

Pul the kick panel off and verify the motor is running.

The motor is doing something -- it buzzes (hums) and is vibrating, but it doesn't seem like its turning anything. It's similar to when our garbage disposal was jammed. What should it be doing?

Stick a screwdriver in where the cooling fins are in back of the motor and turn till the pump turns freely.

Well, that was simple. THANKS! Any idea why it stuck and how to make it not do that again?
