Default Broken Glass in bottom of dishwasher
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: GU1200XTLS1
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hello, I'm looking for help. I have some broken glass that got in the bottom of my dishwasher and I do not know how to remove the (forgive me for not know the parts name but describing it) lower reservoir system with perforated openings (looks like the gear shift and where the water drains in and out) to remove the top section so I can get into it and clean out the glass. On top of the reservoir system, the "spinner" looks like it is screwed in place, however, trying to unscrew it only seems to be stripping it. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Casey

Here is an exploded view of your dishwasher model GU1200XTLS1.

This should help with the disassembly and assembly of your dishwasher.

If the plastic screw seems stripped, you will have to replace it and the housing. Just pry it off with a big screwdriver.

Hi Appguy, the plastic cap does not seem to be stripped. I still cannot pry it off with screwdriver.. But here is the problem: I do not know if anything gotten into the mechanism there or not, there is a noise coming from around motor assembly intermittenly, like grinding/vibrating noise on rinse and all wash cycles.. I thought that something, like piece of glass or bone or plastic got stuc in there and that disposal makes that noise.. there is no way to check other than take it apart.. any suggestions/ideas?
thanks,
Alex

The plastic cap on top of the lower washer arm screws in clockwise. Just pry up on it and unscew counterclockwise.
