Post Brand NEW Dishwasher Won't drain
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: du1055xtss2
Age: Less than 1 year

BRAND NEW Whirlpool dishwasher (DU1055XTSS2) runs through a complete cycle and leaves the entire bottom full of water. Connected it to an exsisting disposal, no air gap, even the high loop under the sink. Still does not drain. Since it's brand new just don't know what else to do.

Is this a new install or is it a replacement and the old unit ran fine.

If new did you remove the knockout from the disposal drain input?
Does it drain at all during the cycle? OR Does it fill at the start, then a little more so that it actuates the water level overfill switch?

Does it sound like the motor is running or trying to run during a drain cycle.
If yes remove the drain at the disposal and let it drain into a pail.
Hold it or it may jump out of the pail. Also put a rag over the top to keep water from splashing all over. Now does it drain?

If it never drains I would remove the kick plate and check if you have a loose connection somewhere re> motor etc. If all OK call Whirlpool or where you bought it and have them fix it. If you mess with it too much you could void your warranty

Question Brand New Dishwasher Won't Drain

It's a replacement. We remodelled our kitchen, new dishwasher, but use old disposal. Old dishwasher ran fine. When we used the new sink for the first time however, it wouldn't drain either. Had to clean out the trap and use drano and plung, that clear it. Then we ran the dishwasher for the first time, and ended up with the water in the bottom.

Is it possible that that there is a clog in the drain hole of the disposal?
The disposal itself works fine though.

I think the unit drains during the cycle, but not sure. There is alot of water left in the machine though. Just enough not to run out when you open the door. I also tried pressing the cancel and drain button and still had all the water in the bottom. Wouldn't I have water leaking out during the cycles, if it didn't drain at all? Will check it though.

I did call Whirlpool, and they adviced to make the high loop under the sink. We
have done that and still the water is in the bottom of the machine.

How likely is it that there's something wrong with the unit itself since its brand new?

Try the pail, it will tell you if it is the drain or the machine.
Just open the door to stop draining if the pail fills.

Does not sound like it is draining at all.
It does sound like you are full and the water level switch/float is activated. This kills power to the fill valve, shutting off the water, so you do not get a flood. During normal operation this should not be activated, it is a safety device.

All the loop does is prevent the unit from siphoning water back into the dishwasher from the sink/disposal.

A defective unit right out of the box is always a possibility.

can you pull the drain hose up and into the sink? Then, hit cancel and see if the water spitz's out of the drain hose. The Whirlpool hose that attaches at the sink has the checkvalve in it. The one attached to the dishwasher has no checkvalve. The two connect under the dishwasher with a green clamp.
Test the hose attaching to the sink by blowing into it at the connection under the D/W. You need to ensure no water is in the D/W before doing this OR bring all the towels in the house to catch that water.
Let me know what your findings are. I like to hear about the encounters...
