Default Blue seal
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 665-1571200
Age: 5 - 10 years

Opened the door one day and there was a blue seal-like thing laying in the bottom. The next day, it began to make a lloud grinding noise which eventually quit. The lower sprayer is very loose and from what I can tell is not moving during the cycle. We took off the kick panel and everything else looks good. Can we just replace the blue seal or is there more?

How big and what shape was this blue seal?

As far as the noise did you break anything in the dishwasher lately?

What ever got in the pump may have done some damage to the impeller.

This will cause the spray arm not to turn.

Can you please verify your model number as there seems to be one number missing.

The seal is about 6" in diameter and is square-edged. I believe my model number is 665-15712000.

I can't think of any of the seals in the dishwasher that are 6" in diameter and blue.

Is it possible it is off of a mixing bowl or a lid to a container?

The grinding sound could have been something in the pump.

To check the spray arm to see if it is moving start the dishwasher and let it fill.

Open the door and point the spray arm toward the door.

Close the door for a few seconds then open it and see where it is pointing.

Here is a link the parts of your dishwasher model 665-15712000.
