Angry Bad sump gasket?
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSD2200G00WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi and thanks for hosting this great forum.

I recently finished installing laminate flooring in my kitchen and during the course of tearing out the old linoleum and 1/4 luan underlayment had to pull out my dishwasher to remove the old floor in it's space under the cabinet. When I had the dishwasher pulled out and was prying up luan I noticed that some of the luan was pressing up against the sump housing of the dishwasher and some water leaked out. When this happened I remembered that I had previously attempted to remove the mesh drain guard to clean out the food debris inside the dishwasher and had evidently forgotten to tighten down the two screws that hold the mesh drain guard down tight and also holds the gasket of the sump in place. I tightened down the two screws and things were fine for a few days. However since then it has developed a slow leak which from what I can tell originates near the left side of the sump gasket when viewed from inside the dishwasher. The sump gasket appears to be warped and does not form a tight seal with the tub inside the dishwasher. I have already removed the sump from the tub and impeller, cleaned it and the tub contact surface, and reassembled it, thinking that maybe there was some dirt preventing a good seal, but it continues to leak in the same place.

I ordered a replacement sump (PS259557) and am planning on replacing the old one.

I guess my question is, does this seem like it should take care of the problem, or is there something else I should do, like use some type of sealant or something when I install the new sump? There didn't appear to be any when I removed the old one, but it seems odd that there wouldn't be.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
