Default Always hot - no timer advance
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 910-C81032-20
Age: 1 - 4 years

I discovered I had a problem with my dryer one day when I heard a slight noise coming from the timer area. I figured that I had a faulty timer. I also noticed that the heating element was always on, even while the motor is not running.

I replaced the timer which made no difference. I did discover that the noise was coming from the buzzer, which never stops a slight buzz when in the off position.

The timer will advance in timed dry but not auto dry, and the heating element is always on, motor running or not.

After looking at the wiring diagram I figuered it had to be either the thermal limiter, control thermostat or the high limit thermostat. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to figure out what needs to be replaced and what each of these parts do??

Could it be a moisture sensor that does not appear on the wiring diagram as well??

If the heating element came on with the motor not running, that would mean that your heating element is broken, and has gone to ground. If you need me you can reach me at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
