Default 1989 DW stopped draining
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSD1100L02
Age: More than 10 years

Stopped draining up into disposal - yes the disposal knock out is knocked out.
Drain solenoid has good resistance, will pull in the valve off 110 VAC at bench or in timer cycle.
I have snaked and/or blown out all lines, flappers, t's, hoses, etc.
R&R'd pump/motor assembly after bench testing & runnin well on 110 VAC.
I have been draining by disconnecting disposal line and pumping out a little at a time into a shallow pan. The pressure at this point (at the backflow valve) seems low.
Any ideas?

Thanks for all the help.

Here is a link to the parts breakdown
GE GSD1100L02 Parts List

Did you remove the cover at the back/bottom of the tub and check the valve Item 564 (piston & nut) in the tub section. The valve assembly unscrews.

Default Yes

Hi Denman:

Yes, I pulled that cover. I cleaned up the valve (item 564) piston & nut.

Under the cover at the back/bottom of the tub, I also have a flapper valve with a thin sheet metal vane on it. It pivots on 2 ears.
I've cleaned it as well.

I'm going to install the used motor/pump assembly. It has the newer quieter motor and the smaller pump - same as the replacment kit. I drilled open the (closed) port for the upper arm sprayer. All the wiring is the same; a little soldering may be needed.

I think (hope) that even though the original motor runs, that it's too weak and/or maybe the impeller is damaged to the point where it can't pump out.

Well, the (circa 2002) pump (I pulled out of a used Hotpoint DW I bought for $10) did the trick. Didn't even need to solder. Drilled one hole in the frame to rig the new-style metal wire hangar assembly. BTW, if you can find a cheap used DW, this method is a good alternative to the $140 - $160 motor/pump replacement kit. These motors and pumps seem pretty robust. The $10 dishwasher I bought was intact except where a mouse had chewed a hole in the sump.

You had to drill open the hole? I just got a replacement pump assembly and it came with a clamped-on rubber tip to close off the hole. I took it off and just hooked up the hoses. I hope I didn't need to drill open any hole, as the directions did not indicate. I guess since you got the assy off an existing DW, it may have been a DW-specific part (with plugged port).

You are correct. You're in good shape.
The used dishwasher that I pulled the motor/pump from was basic "contractor-grade" with no upper spray arm assembly. The pump was molded with a closed port which I drilled because my dishwasher does have the u.s.a.a.. GE new replacment motor/pump assey's cover models with and w/o the upper assembly. Your new replacement motor/pump is molded with the port open, but covered with the rubber tip for those installing in dw's with no u.s.a.a.
