If all the fittings are threaded did you use the Teflon pipe tape on the threads.

Any bent or damaged parts with compression fittings can leak.

Soldier can be tricky if you're not use to it.

Vibration from air in lines can cause pipes to loosen.

You certainly don't want to over tighten but could they still be loose?

sorry, I wasn't clear about the leaks. the valves are leaking internaly, discharging heater water in small amounts. I have replaced the valves a couple of times yet they still discharge ? any other ideas or help is greatly appreciated, thanks for your reply... al holt

Cutoff valves? I know that the valves made for cold water like used for garden hose outside the house are different than what is available for hot water uses. Maybe the hot water deteriorates the rubber seals.

Unhappy

This valve is the code required temperature & pressure valve (t & p valve), not the cutoff valve... and is located approx 6 inches from the top of the water heater. a side mounted protective safety valve, installed for release of higher than normal rated temps and pressures. They are leaking internaly. I change them and they leak. Why ? I have the same water pressure and same heat setting. But , if I replace a valve the next one leaks internaly also... ???? H.E.L.P.
