Default Yanking off fan blade of motor
Brand: General Electric
Age: 5 - 10 years

Was curious if there was a trick to getting the fan blade off of a condensor motor? I'm replacing the motor and I'm almost positive that I need to reutilize the fan blade. There is a retainer bolt on the base of the fan blade which I have loosened/removed but man....the blade does not budge. I've WD-40'ed it and used a hammer to try and pound the shaft out but it's only moved about a half an inch. Thoughts?

well.. there is tool you can use. I think it's called "blade puller" it ties around theblade's hub and then you rotate it and pulls off the blade. similar to a steering wheel tool.

If you are going to replace the condensor fan motor, take it out and cut the shaft close to the blade hub set it on a vise. something steel and round larger than the shaft and pound out the remaing piece of shafting, carefully and do not hit the fan hub

other than using the blade puller cut the shavery close to to the fan hub. make sure that you DO REMOVE ANY set screws in the hub more often than not there are two. Place on a vise or something a little larger than than the shaft and pound out
