Second day and no help so I'll give it a shot.
From my experience the top three problems with Room Air Conditioners are:
1. Dirt
2. Dirt
3. Dirt
Therefore, the problem may be that the drain line is clogged up.
You may need to get some help removing the unit from the window.
A 5,200 btuh unit is not likely to slide out of the case.
Remove the screws holding the case to the base unit. Remove any
other covers (for the part facing the room and the section that
hangs outside.)
You will have probably, at this point, seen the dirt that needs cleaning out
of the unit. Clean the dirt from the evaporator (cold section facing inside),
the blower wheel/blade (behind the evap coil), the condenser coil (outside
section), and the drainage paths. The dirt on the condenser is probably
caked on mud (water is slung on to the coil to aid in cooling this section
and since the water coming from the evap is also carrying the dirt the
mixture ends up being mud.) A mild liquid detergent should be ok to use.
This is best done outside so you don't make a mess of your floors, walls,
ceilings, and kids (though they may enjoy it!) If you use a brush on the
coils, be sure not to bend the fins (worse than dirt!) Also, you may want
to put a plastic bag around the fan motor while cleaning.
Let the unit dry thoroughly. Reassemble and reinstall. You must pitch the
unit towards the outside (about 1/4" per ft sticking out off of level.)
This last point may have been the original problem, but what the hay,
it probably needed cleaning anyway.
Good luck and let me know if this was helpful.
