I have a kenmore ac unit model number 1068760880, 8,000 btu's, when I first turn it on works well, then when it reaches the desire temperture, it goes off, but never turns back on even if I turn the knob to the coldest point. The only way I've got it to work again is if I unplugged the cord from the electrical outlet, but the cicle stars again. If some out there knows what's the problem, please tell me. I'll be gratefull.

It sounds like the temperature control is bad.

Try tapping on the control to see if it will start back up.

Here is a link to the parts of your air conditioner model 1068760880.

The part number for the control is PS319308.

Smile Not to Contradict, but

If he unplugs the unit and plugs it back in and it starts, does not sound like the thermostat contacts are sticking. This sounds more like hysteresis taking place in the compressor windings. A technician can check this out with a megohmeter.
