Default Removing Evap Fan Fedders Window Unit
Brand: Other
Model Number: A2Q07F2A-M
Age: 5 - 10 years

I am replacing fan motor, double ended, both, evap and cond fans on same motor, I have removed clamp that holds evap Squirrle cage and can only get fan assy to move about 1/4 to 3/8 inch on shaft and it stops moving, Styrafoam housing prevents getting behind and prying, was wondering what else could be stopping the fan assy from moving, I am sure I can destroy it to remove it but perfer not to let a little piece of plastic get the better of me, this squirrle cage must be removed before I can take motor out of unit. Shaft has a groove in the end of it and a flat side.

Look at the front of the partition. Does this have a ring around the squirrel cage. If so remove this. You may also have to loosen the condenser and carefully move it out of the way to get at mounting screws.

Thanks Icehouse
I had removed the ring and the fan still would only slide part way off the shaft the evap was loose and out of the way, I finally ordered a new fan and destroyed the old one while removing it, even destroyed when I slide it on the new motor shaft it still locks part way off the shaft and I can not see why, hate to let a piece of plastic get the better of me, but needed to do something as soon will want the unit to do some cooling.
