Firstly, if your unit is not getting cold & outside temp is also cold, check that the compressor is running before hitting Panic Button. The compressor is the Big Motor that actually pumps the gas through the system. It might be too cold for it to actually cycle on. All AC Units have a thermostat that turns on & off the compressor to regulate the rooms temperature to it's set point.
So if thermostat is set to say 23 deg celcius & the room temp is actually 18 deg celcius, well the bloody compressor aint going to start brother.
If Compressor is running & it is not blowing cold air, chances are it needs professional help. Although it does actually need to be running for a couple of minutes before it starts getting a temperature drop across the Evaporator core (Indoor core behind your filter).
All AC's should have filters on the indoor core, maybe you have not looked hard enough for it. Filters Should be located before the Cooling core (Indoor core), so where ever the unit pulls it's air in, there should be a cover that hides a filter or where a filter should be. Some people throw them out & never replace them. BAD MOVE.... ALWAYS KEEP IT FILTERED. So if you really don't have a filter in your AC, then get one fitted, the sooner the better. Most Refrigeration specialists will stock filter cloth that can be cut to the size you require. It's not that expensive either. |
