Cool Portable air conditioning room unit
Brand: Other
Model Number: 11000btu

Is there any reason I shouldn't vent the discharge hose of a room a/c unit out an existing unused fireplace in my basement instead of a window ?? Thanks in advance.

The length of the run for the air to travel may effect the operation of the air conditioning unit.

It should stat in your owners manual the length of the run.

Thanks for the reply Shella. The OEM hose is 5 ft long and I just intended to direct it up the basement fireplace about 2 feet. Its an Amcor brand and uses a technonogy that atomizes and disperses the condensation thru a smaller hose that runs up thru the exhaust vent hose as well. Isn't it the only function to vent the warm air outside ? The unit also has a small removable reservoir to catch excess moisture that may not be expelled during extremely humid conditions. Again,,,thanks to anyone in advace for their input.
