Default Leaking from the front..unit IS tilted backwards
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: unsure
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hoping you all can help me out. We've got a 9000 BTU Frigidaire window a/c unit, just over 2 yrs old. We live in HI so humidity is constant at ~70-75%. We run the unit at cool in evenings and energy save during the day. About a month ago, the a/c unit started leaking from the front. I pulled it apart and it was really nasty. Lots of smelly sludge built up on the bottom so I cleaned it all out, got rid of all the water, and increased the tilt towards the back even further with shims to the point it was very noticably tilted towards the back. Problem was solved until yesterday when it started leaking water out the front again.

I did a search and prevailing suggestion is the lack of title causes the leaking in front. That's not the problem in my case. Anyone have any other suggestions on what the problem may be? Clogged line, frozen something, gremlins??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

Default Clean Drain

You probably have a clogged drain. You will have to pull the unit apart. the outer case will stay but the coils and compressor will slide out from the inside. you will need to take it outside and clean with a hose the evaporator coil tray which drains to the back then is suppose to drain out side. when this tray is plugged it will over flow and come inside your house. It isn't difficult to do just messy. While you have it out I suggest that you use the hose and flush out the condensing coil at the same time. Water won't hurt it just keep it away from the electronics.

Default Fixed the drain...but display isn't working properly

Thanks for the suggestion about the drain. It was indeed a clogged drain. Pain to disassemble everything but once I figured out the drain location, it was easy but tedious.

The unit has a digital temp display and when I put back in the window and turned on, the right number works, but the left doesn't. Any suggestions?
