Default Fan/blower doesn't come on
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 580.71121100
Age: 5 - 10 years

For a couple of weeks, I was hearing a squealing/squeeking sound when the blower was on, whether it was on fan or a/c mode. Then the blower stopped working this morning. When I turn it on to fan mode, there's nothing, but I hear a low humm sound when I put my ear close to it. When I turn on a/c mode, the unit works fine(makes the a/c turning on sound), just no air coming through because the blower fan isn't working.

I slid the cover off, and the compressor fan/blower fan are on the same spindle, and I can rotate them fine by hand. Does this mean my motor is bad or is there a simple fix? Thanks much

Update:

After wiggling the fan blade around a bit(it didn't seem to be loose), I got it to work. The occasional screeching/howling sound is still there though. I have some oil around my house, namely wd-40, mineral oil, and blade oil for my chainsaw. I'm thinking I should lube something in there? Thx again.

2nd update:

Well, after about 20 minutes, the fan stopped rotating again. This time it was a little harder to spin the blades with the motor off. I think the motor is going.
