Default A/C-Heater tripping inline breaker.
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: ACE184XR0
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hi, ive got an ac/heater model number ACE184XR0 2 years old and its tripping the inline breaker at times. I can use the fan always just fine and if i havent used the ac/heater for a while it will work with out a problem till it cycles off and when it tries to cycle back on it will trip the breaker and then keep tripping the breaker until it has sit for a period of time. If anyone can toss some ideas of what i can check or what it could be please let me know. Thanks ryan

Two things that come to mind right off.
#1) possible there is a bad connection in the circuit. loose wires will heat up and cause the breaker to over amp. causing it to trip.
SECURE POWER. check your connections, try to tighten all wire nuts and check tightness on all screws at the disconnect and A/H even at the breaker to the A/H make sure the breaker is in the socket good and tight.

#2) If the connections are tight. the breaker could be bad, breakers are neutral to the touch, if you touch the face of the breaker and it is warm. it is bad.
check to see that the breaker is the proper size. The A/H will have a tag on it's cover. The breaker size is stated to the size of the electric heater. The heater size is on the heater cover, it should be written on the A/H cabinet by code.
