i HAVE A YORK WINDOW AIR CONDITION
WHEN I TURN THE AIR CONDITION IT TURNS ON AND AFTER FIVE MINUTES IT TURNS OFF AND GIVES ME A E1 SIGNAL IN THE PANEL. WHEN I UNPLUG IT WILL TURN ON AUTOMATIC BUT WILL DO THE SAME AGAIN

I don't have the fault code for your air conditioner but going by other brands it is a faulty electronic control.

What you can do is look in your owners manual and call your local service center to find out for sure.

Your manual my tell you what it means.

Not sure about what is going on with yours, but you might check and see if it has a timer setting. I thought my a/c was broken as it would not go on and was about to junk it. I had not had an electronic unit before so I wasn;t familiar with all of the features. After further testing, I discovered that it was set for "timer" (a featuer I had not used) and somehow had be inadvertently set on.
